Description

The following document details the steps necessary to create printouts of the man pages for the Sun StorEdge[TM] 5210 / 5310 NAS Appliance CLI interface. It also includes steps to extract the same man pages in HTML format.

Steps to Follow

PRINTABLE VERSION OF MANPAGES

1. Download the current 5210 or 5310 NAS software update from
SunSolve:

StorEdge 5210 NAS software update Document ID: 118216-xx
StorEdge 5310 NAS software update Document ID: 119351-xx

The retrieved file will be a zip archive named with the patchid
followed by the .zip extension.

    Example: 118216-04.zip or 119351-03.zip

2. Locate the appropriate file in a work directory
and unzip the file. This will create a directory named for the
patch such as 118216-04 or 119351-03

3. Depending on which file was extracted, change directory to
118216-04 or 119351-03 and perform a long list. Look
for the .IMG file that was extracted from the zip file.

4. The .IMG file will have a name comprised of capital letters, the
release number for the image and the extension .IMG

    Example: NF403B16.IMG or NE410B18.IMG

5. Using the zip utility, extract the contents of the .IMG file:

    unzip NF403B16.IMG

Files will extract and inflate.

6. When the extraction/inflation completes, additional directory structure
will be created below your current location. Change directory to
the following location to find the man pages:

     cd ./man/man1

7. The man pages are contained within gzipped files. They can be gunzipped
and printed.

HTML VERSION OF MANPAGES:

1. Perform steps 1 - 5 as detailed above.

2. When the extraction/inflation completes, additional directory structure
will be created below your current location. Change directory to
the following location to find the man pages:

     cd ./www/data/man

3. This directory should contain an index.html file and a man directory.
Create a tar file containing all files and directories from this location
forward.

     tar cvf /<some_directory>/5x10manpages.tar *

4. Extract the tar file created above in the desired directory, and use
your browser to point at the index.html file. All of the man pages
are now available in html format.
