Description
This article lists the different battery states that a Sun StorEdge[TM] T3+
or Sun StorEdge[TM] 6120 could report in response to "refresh -s" or "fru
stat" commands. It applies to firmware versions 3.x and higher. The
corrective actions are listed in the order they should be performed, in
order to solve the problem while minimizing hardware replacement.

Steps to Follow
Sun StorEdge[TM] T3+ and Sun StorEdge[TM] 6120 Controller Firmware 3.1: Battery States:
OFF
---
Explanations:
The PCU is off. The PCU was either turned off by the switch or disabled
by the firmware.
Corrective actions:
* Turn the PCU switch on.
* Physically remove the PCU and reinstall.
* Replace the PCU.
MISSING
-------
Explanations:
The PCU and/or battery is missing.
Corrective actions:
* Install a PCU if one is not installed.
* Install a battery in the PCU if one is not installed.
* Replace the PCU.
* Replace the Midplane.
NORMAL
------
Explanations:
The battery is healthy and operating normally. The PCU is running from AC
input.
Corrective actions:
No action is required.
ACTIVE
------
Explanations:
The battery is supplying power to the PCU, indicating an AC input
failure.
Corrective actions:
* Restore AC power to the PCU.
* Replace the PCU.
CHARGE
------
Explanations:
The battery is being charged.
Corrective actions:
No action is required.  The charger will automatically turn off when the
battery is fully charged.
IN TEST
--------
Explanations:
The battery is under test.
Corrective actions:
No action is required.  However, testing can be stopped or minimized with
the "refresh -k" command.
FAILED
------
Explanations:
The battery failed testing and needs to be replaced.
Corrective actions:
* Check to see that the fault is not a known issue.
* Replace the battery.
FAULT
-----
Explanations:
A fault in the PCU and/or battery was detected.
Corrective actions:
* Physically remove the PCU and reinstall.
* Replace the PCU.
* Replace the battery.
DISABLED
--------
Explanations:
The PCU has been disabled and is not supplying power.
Corrective actions:
* Restore AC power to the PCU.
* Physically remove the PCU and reinstall.
* Replace the PCU.
* Replace the battery.
MARGIN

Explanation:
None
Corrective actions:
Contact Sun Service.
