Description
This Document describes the general process to remove and install the Remote System Controller card. Also called the RSC or SC.

Steps to Follow
For more detailed info for your system type see docs listed below.

Power off the system and remove power cords. This is needed due to the RSC card getting power as soon as the system is plugged in. Removing the card with the system plugged in could damage the card or cause personal injury.
Locate the card and remove any cables connected to it. Be sure to label the cords for ease of reconnecting after work is complete.
Remove the screw securing the card to the chassis back panel. Again be sure the is no power connected to the system. Also be sure to use proper antistatic precautions.
Pull the card free from the slot. A slight rocking of the card my be needed to free it. Do not use excessive force to one end or one side of the card, this could damage the card.
If re-seating the card then use the same card to install back into the system. If replacing the card then swap the new and old cards. Be sure to put the card on a antistatic mat.
Align the card with the PCI slot, the opening for the card, and the card guide. Push the card into the slot. Apply even pressure along the edge of the card.
Secure the RSC card faceplate to the back panel with the Phillips screw.
Connect the cables that had been removed from the card.
Connect the power cords to the system. (When this is done the card will receive power and start its own boot process)
Connect to the card again via serial or telnet, (depends on how the card has been configured) to make sure it is working. (If connecting via telnet be sure to give the card enough time to boot)
If the card was replaced run /usr/platform/`uname -i`/rsc/rscadm show if the configuration info is missing the card will need to be reconfigured.
