Goal

This document describes the availability of the tool MegaRAID Storage Manager for monitoring RAID under Linux and Windows on Oracle's AMD server line-up.

Some platforms are excluded from this document such as the X4500 and X4540 - these platforms have custom software developed for monitoring their RAID solutions.

Solution

MSM-IR or MegaRAID Storage Manager is the tool of choice for monitoring hardware RAID on LSI controller based Sun / Oracle platforms running Windows or Linux.
This tool is now included free of charge with the Tools and Drivers download CD/DVD media for each platform.

To download the Tools and Drivers software CD/DVD, click on the link provided for your appropriate platform. If your platform is not listed then the Sun / Oracle version of MSM-IR is not applicable for your platform type and you may have to purchase the full version of MSM from LSI corporation:

In all the above instances, the latest CD/DVD media may be considered a "hot fix" release which does not have a full set of software installed on the media. Therefore, if you find MSM-IR is unavailable on a particular CD/DVD media release, please download the previous revision disk image until MSM-IR is found to be available.
The "hot fix" update mechanism is designed to release a patch or workaround as soon as possible therefore sometimes it is not possible to qualify all software on the media within the available time frame, hence it's exclusion.
