Description
How to create a data pool without hotspare by factory default configuration, drives in slot 1-6 and slot 14, of Sun StorEdge[TM] 6020/Sun StorEdge[TM] 6120.

Steps to Follow

The Sun StorEdge 6020/6210 units are shipped with the minimum number of drives, in a factory configuration, which is 7 drives in one tray. The data drives are located in slots 1-6. The seventh drive is in slot 14 and is designated to be the dedicated hotspare.
With this factory default configuration, you can not create a data pool using 7 drives without hotspare, because a data pool must consist of data drives in contiguous slots. That means that you can not create a data pool using drives in slot 1-6 and separated slot 14. This is not allowed by the StorEdge 6020/6120 firmware.   Neither can you create a data pool by pulling the drive in slot 14 and moving it to slot 7.
If you want to create a data pool using 7 drives in the tray without hotspare and you do not want to leave drive in slot 14 unused, you must reconfigure the array as follows.
This example assumes:
You want to create a data pool without a hotspare using all 7 drives in the original factory configuration. And this data pool is a raid 5 formation named pool0.
1. pull drive in slot 14 to slot 7
2. login to tray
3. add a data pool
:vol add pool0 data u1d1-7 raid 5
4. initial system area
:vol init pool0 sysarea
5. initial data pool
:vol init poll0 data u1d1-7 raid 5 rate 16

Document needs to be written against a product. If this is written for a T4 or other Storage product it must be spelled out in the document.
The document is rather sparce in describing why you would want to create a pool, what are the benefits? This document needs more work in order to be published. The concept is a good one, but it falls short.
Remember, customers may be reading this document, write it so almost any customer with any level of experience can understand it.

2--The hotspare rules changed as from 3.1.x (I tested 3.1.4). Now you can have two different hotspares which are local (for a dedicated pool) and global (for all the pools in an array). Whatever is the hotspare you choose, you can set it in any slot between slot 2-14, it's no longer the slot 14 only. I would uge you to do some testings before submitting back the documentation.
Yes. I do the test. But this documentation talked about how to create a data pool without hotspare.

3--I don't see the benefit of this documentation as every SE61x0 trained engineer should know that a data pool has to be constituted from contiguous drives.
The SE61x0 trainging materail did not provide the method of this documentation how to create a data pool without hotspare when 61*0 shipped with 6 drives in slot 1-6 and 1 drives in slot 14.

4--When you provide CLI into a documentation, you need to add the examples with them.
