DescriptionBefore patching your OS and/or cluster, use patchpro to define your system characteristics and discover which patches are necessary. Patchpro will find the patches needed based on your checklist, show the order installation, and allow for easy downloading of all patches.
Use
http://patchpro.sun.com to determine which patches to install for Sun Cluster.
The O.S. requirements for Sun[TM] Cluster 3.x nodes are listed below.
- The minimum O.S. distribution for Sun Cluster 3.x is the "End User" (SUNWCuser) distribution.
- For Sun Fire[TM] 12K/15K and Sun Enterprise[TM] 10000, the minimum O.S. distribution for Sun[TM] Cluster 3.x is the "Full Distribution + OEM Support" (SUNWCXall) distribution.

How to determine the O.S. version installed on the Sun Cluster 3.x node?
# egrep Solaris /etc/release
For example
# egrep Solaris /etc/release
Solaris 8 7/01 s28s_u5wos_08 SPARC
If using explorer output,
# cd explorer.<hostid>.<hostname>-<date><time>
# cat etc/release | egrep Solaris
How to determine the O.S. distribution initially installed on the Sun Cluster 3.x node?
# cat /var/sadm/system/admin/CLUSTER
For example:
# cat /var/sadm/system/admin/CLUSTER
CLUSTER=SUNWCXall
If using explorer output,
# cd explorer.<hostid>.<hostname>-<date><time>
# cat var/CLUSTER
Following are the various Solaris[TM] O.S. distributions:
SUNWCXall - Full Distribution + OEM Support
SUNWCall - Full Distribution
SUNWCprog - Developer
SUNWCuser - End User
SUNWCreq - Core
