Steps to Follow
Both the Sun StorEdge[TM] 3310/3320 and Sun StorEdge[TM] 3510/3511 arrays are capable of presenting multiple paths to the same Logical Drive (or LUN) to Solaris.
The DMP (dynamic multi-pathing) module of Veritas Volume Manager can then use those multiple paths to load balance between the multiple paths, as well as use the extra paths for redundancy. Customers wanting to run DMP using VxVM on a Sun StorEdge 3510, 3511, 3320 or 3310 array can download the plug-in ASL library from the SunDownload Center. Setting up DMP on the Sun StorEdge 3310/3320/3510/3511 using VxVM 3.2 and above:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Customers wanting to run DMP on a Sun StorEdge 3510, 3511, 3320 or 3310 can download the appropriate plug-in ASL library for these arrays from the SunDownload Center. No ASL plug-in library can be installed on VxVM version less than 3.2. In addition, each ASL plug-in library may have restrictions on which version of VxVM they are supported on... Refer to the README.1st file for each ASL to determine what version(s) of VxVM they are supported on. To download:
1. Go to the "All Products" listing at Sun's Download Center. http://www.sun.com/software/download/allproducts.html
2. Click on "VERITAS Volume Manager Array Support Library (ASL)."
3. Click "Download" to download the software. From the README.1st file, following are the file(s) for SE3xxx (3310/3320/3510/3511) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Storage ASL file 3.2 3.5 4.0 4.1 4.1 sparc sparc sparc sparc x64

NOTES: 1. Although the above matrix specifies a "N" for VxVm 3.2 and SE3xxx, checking the release notes for the products, it seems that 3.2 is supported. 2. The SE3xxx (3xxxasl-1_0-solsparc.zip or 3xxxasl-1_0-solx64.zip as appropriate) is the approved ASL for all Sun StorEdge (StorageTek) 3000 family arrays going forward (including SE3320). The other platform-specific ones are legacy ASLs that can be used as required but it is not necessary. Once you unzip 3xxxasl-1_0-solsparc.zip, it would inflate into a package named "VRTSSUNStorEdge3000". Simply use the 'pkgadd' command to add this package to the host. You may have to run # vxdctl enable or even a reboot for the new module to take effect. After installing the package, the command 'vxddladm listsupport' will show that support for the thatspecific array is included. For example: # vxddladm listsupport | grep SUN libvxap.so A/A SUN AP_NODES libvxpurple.so A/P SUN T300 libvxsun3510.so A/A SUN StorEdge 3510 the above shows only support for the 3510 has been installed. After installing the package, the command # vxdmpadm listctlr all command will show you that indeed you have a 3510, 3511, 3320 or 3310. In the following example, both paths (c7 and c8) point to the same SE3510 array. # vxdmpadm listctlr all CTLR-NAME ENCLR-TYPE STATE ENCLR-NAME ====================================================
c0 Disk ENABLED Disk c7 SUN3510 ENABLED SUN35100 c8 SUN3510 ENABLED SUN35100 SPECIFIC INFORMATION REGARDING THE SE3510-JBOD (Expansion unit) ARRAY:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If your system has only a Sun StorEdge 3xxx JBOD array, you do *not* need to download and install the ASL library. The reason is that VxVM is incapable of determining the enclosure type of this array, and therefore treats the enclosure as that of type "Disk". If both channels of the JBOD array are attached to the system, the DMP can be enabled by using the 'vxddladm addjbod' command by specifying the vendor of the disks in the array. Note: SE3511 JBOD is not supported as a direct attach to the host. Please check the documentation accordingly.

Comment: Need to update some minor things about ASLs for Minnow products based on Kgap 2555 that i have accepted.
I have added 3320 to this document. Added keyword "ASL" and added information about the new ASL file which covers all the products.

Pls do the review

Comment: for some reason, the previous document editor apparently took out support for vxvm 3.2 for these 2 ASLs. that is incorrect. VxVM 3.2 is supported for use with both the 3310 ASL and the 3510 ASL. I'm re-correcting this document. may i recommend that if one finds a problem running the ASL on vxvm 3.2, they should submit a bug report.
