The Sun Storage[TM] 3000 family of software provides a management user interface to configure and maintain 3000 Series Arrays.

This document details how to find and install the software.

Solution

How to download and install Sun Storage Configuration Service software (SUNWsscs)

Before installing the SUNWsscs software, be sure to read the release notes for your array.

Install OS updates. To use Sun Storage[TM] Configuration Service on a Solaris host, you need to install the most current Sun recommended OS patches and Java runtime environment software patches for the Solaris[TM] 8, Solaris[TM] 9, and Solaris[TM] 10 OS. For a list of Sun recommended patches, refer to the release notes for your array.

Solaris OS Version

Memory

Disk Space

Solaris[TM] 2.6 with Sun recommended patches

128 Mbyte required

40 Mbyte minimum

Solaris 8, Solaris 9, and Solaris 10 with Sun recommended patches on SPARC platforms

Solaris 9 (9 04/04) and Solaris 10 with Sun recommended patches on x86 platforms

512 Mbyte recommended

100 Mbyte recommended

The software installation package, SUNWsscs, includes the following components:

  • Sun StorEdge Configuration Service agent

  • Sun StorEdge Configuration Service console

  • Sun StorEdge Diagnostic Reporter agent (daemon)

  • Sun StorEdge Diagnostic Reporter Config Tool (UI)

  • Sun StorEdge Command-Line Interface (CLI)

Before installing the software, be sure to read the release notes for your array.

1.  If you are upgrading, be sure you uninstall earlier versions of Sun StorEdge Configuration Service, Sun StorEdge Diagnostic Reporter, and the CLI, including the agents.

2. If the Sun StorEdge 3000 Family Professional Storage Manager CD is not available, download the software using the following steps:

a) Use your Oracle SSO to log in to My Oracle Support at: https://support.oracle.com/
b) Click on the Patches & Updates tab near the top of the window.
c) In the Patch Search pane, click on "Product or Family(Advanced Search)".
d) Check the box for "Include all products in a family".
e) In the Product field, start typing ""Sun StorageTek 3000 Series Software".
f) In the Release field pulldown, select "Sun StorageTek 3000 Series Software 2.5" and/or whatever other
release/s you want to download.
g) Close the release pulldown and click on the Search button.

Step f) will pull up screens similar to those captured below -- you will
see all the patches/releases available for download based on what you selected

When one of these is selected, the Readme and Download buttons will be visible.
The download file will be zipped and should include the license file along with the binary.

Once selected, it can be downloaded and unzipped.

3.  Unzip the downloaded file.

4.  Unzip the SSCS zip file.

for example:

 # unzip SSCS-2.5.zip

Archive:  SSCS-2.5.zip
   creating: SSCS/
   creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/
   creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/windows/
 extracting: SSCS/2.5.0.9/windows/2.5_fw_windows.zip
   creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/linux/
 extracting: SSCS/2.5.0.9/linux/2.5_fw_linux.zip
   creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/
   creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/sparc/
  inflating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/sparc/2.5_fw_solaris_sparc.pkg
   creating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/i386/
  inflating: SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/i386/2.5_fw_solaris_x86.pkg

5.  cd to the sparc or i386 software package directory.

For example for sparc:

# cd SSCS/2.5.0.9/solaris/sparc

6.  Run the 'pkgadd' command, specifying the software package required.

For example:

# pkgadd -d ./2.5_fw_solaris_sparc.pkg

Note: you must be root to run this command.
