This document explains how to check the device alias for the proper boot device.

Check the device alias for the proper boot device.

Steps to Follow
Verify device alias is correct, for a boot device.

Verify device alias is correct. Check the boot device to be sure it points to the correct drive.

ok printenv boot-device

boot-device =    /pci@1d,700000/scsi@4/disk@0,0 disk net

ok printenv boot-device

boot-device =    disk0 net

If the device is an alias check the alias to be sure it points to the same path that a probe-scsi would show for the disk.

ok devalias

screen                   /pci@1f,700000/SUNW,XVR-500@2

net                      /pci@1c,600000/network@3

cdrom                    /pci@1e,600000/ide@d/cdrom@2,0:f

ide                      /pci@1e,600000/ide@d

If it is not correct fix it to point to the right device.

Results will be:

all others aliases will also be listed

Now make the alias the boot device

ok setenv boot-device bootdisk
```
Also it is possible to just make the boot device the path to the disk.

ok boot-device /pci@1d ,700000/scsi@4/disk@0,0

ok reset-all
```

At this point the alias should be right and or the path that the system is trying to boot off should be good.
