Description

Customer replace the CPU board (CP2140/CP2160) on Netra[TM] CT410/CT810 Server and cannot get console of CPU board after the replacement. This documentation explain how to access console of CPU board from Alarm Card

Steps to Follow

In addition to having the right Solaris[TM] 9 Operating System load RRL12, set the OBP parameters on the blade/host for console access from the AC.

In order for the "console" command (netconsole) to work from the Alarm Card the following OBP parameters need to be set using "setenv" at the ok prompt:

   ok setenv multiplexer-input-devices ttya ssp-serial
ok setenv multiplexer-output-devices ttya ssp-serial
ok setenv output-device output-mux
ok setenv input-device input-mux

or "eeprom" at the UNIX prompt:

   % eeprom multiplexer-input-devices="ttya ssp-serial"
% eeprom multiplexer-output-devices="ttya ssp-serial"
% eeprom output-device=output-mux
% eeprom input-device=input-mux

and a reset of the system.

If Solaris Operating System is not running on the system, a serial cable is needed to set up netconsole from OBP.
