Description

Correlate the physical path of disk/#/#/#/#/# from extractor or SSCS output.

Steps to Follow
disk/3/6/1/0/0
| | | | |
| | | | -----> Slice (Always 0)
| | | |
| | | -------> LUN
| | |
| | ---------> Target number
| |
| -----------> Port on SIO card
|
-------------> Slot in the DSP of the SIO card

Example from show_volumes__detailed included in explorer:

                         Virt    Volume                                               Chunk  Mirror Task
Name Type Type Size State Condition % full Size Update Name/Progress(%) SVSD World Wide Name (WWN)
---------------------- --------- ------- ---------- ------------- ------------ ------ ------ ------ ---------------- ---------- -----------------------------------------------
vol/MS1 SAN Stripe 6.00 GB Mapped Online N/A 1 MB N/A No tasks running DEFAULT 60:00:15:D0:00:03:54:00:00:00:00:00:00:00:0D:0E
disk/3/6/1/5/0                   Data       3.00 GB Online
disk/3/6/1/4/0                   Data       3.00 GB Online

So vol/MS1 has 2 vdisks. One physically attached to Slot 3, port 6, target 1 (as defined from the array), and LUNs 4 and 5.

Above 2 vdisks can be seen by "sscs list vdisk":

VDisk: disk/3/6/1/4/0 Storage Domain: DEFAULT Pool: Default Management: Internal
VDisk: disk/3/6/1/5/0 Storage Domain: DEFAULT Pool: Default Management: Internal

Comment: Unfortunately I don't aggree that this should have been published. First and foremost, the description.

"Correlate the physical path..." Correlate to what? To Correlate is to compare something. You could correlate the "show disk" output to a "port listmap" output. But I do beleive Howard already wrote an Info Doc on that.

The other point is, your missing huge amounts of information regarding target ID's. Basically, there is NO correlation between the target ID shown with the show disk output and the port listmap output of the array. Again, we already have an Info Doc on that subject.

I suggest pulling this info doc.

Thank,
P Mazz

Joel, you should note about the difference between the four digits
and five digits path format.
The five digits physical path like disk/#/#/#/#/# reported in
"show_disks__detailed" of extractor or "sscs vdisk" output. The first
four digits are same as you mentioned. The last one is the slice
number and it is always "0" since the DSP always creates a vdisk
with a single slice.

Additionally, you also should put examples of correlation with
extractor or SSCS output to help audiences.

Put this document back to the draft stage.

- Hiro
