Description
This document explains how to reset the Sun StorEdge[TM] 3310, 3320, 3510 and 3511 Array to its factory default setting.

METHOD 1

From the host system connected to the Sun StorEdge 3310, 3320 or 3510 or 3511, bring up an "sccli" prompt and execute the "reset nvram" command, then follow the steps. You must reset the controller for the setting to take effect.

For example:

 # sccli
sccli: /dev/rdsk/c2t40d0s2: device reset detected
sccli: /dev/rdsk/c2t40d1s2: device reset detected
sccli: selected device /dev/rdsk/c2t40d0s2 [SUN StorEdge 3510 SN#001176]
sccli> reset nvram
WARNING: The configuration of the array controller will be erased.
Factory default parameters will take effect at next controller reset.
Logical devices may not be accessible until mappings are reconfigured.
Are you sure? yes

METHOD 2

Method 2 can be used to restore nvram saved settings to the disks or
factory settings if there are no saved settings on the disks.

Tip or telnet into the Sun StorEdge 3310 or 3320 or 3510 or 3511. From the Main Menu, do the following:

1) Choose "System functions."

2) Choose "Controller maintenance."

3) Choose "Restore nvram from disks."

4) Click "Yes."

5) Reset the controller for the settings to take effect.

If improper resetting of the controller is done, then the nvsram settings
will be shown as the factory settings and not as expected, as the nvram
settings that are saved on disks. Choose "Restore nvram from disks" again
and reset the garbled nvram settings that are caused by the controller,
especially the host luns mapping to the SCSI channels.

A problem results from nvram factory settings that differ from the
customer's nvram settings that are saved to the disks, and then the
following sequence occurs:

1) The following is entered at the "sccli>" prompt:

  reset nvram

2) The "Restore nvram from disks" option from the minnow menu is chosen,
and there is no reset controller between the two actions

3) The reset controller is performed after the two actions.

To restore from this situation do the following:

1) sccli> reset nvram

2) sccli> configure network-interface lan0 ip-address n.n.n.n netmask
m.m.m.m gateway g.g.g.g
sccli> reset controller

3) Using a telnet or tip session to the controller:
a. Select "System functions."
b. Select "Controller maintenance."
c. Select "Restore nvram from disks."
d. Click "Yes". Resetting the controller is required for the setting
to take effect.

4) Reset the controller.
