Description

During POST, the message "Minimum proc_dump_delay has not been met.  Pausing x seconds..." is displayed and logged during POST.

Steps to Follow
The following fragment of a POST log shows the above message:

Minimum proc_dump_delay has not been met. Pausing 7 seconds...

This is generated by hpost when attempting a hardware dump and, in order to obtain all available (and valuable) diagnostic data, it will pause in case there are processors in the domain waiting to timeout on one or more bus transactions.

The message simply indicates that hpost is going to sleep briefly (about 7 seconds, by default) before collecting the data from the processors. It was introduced with SMS 1.3.

One would usually see this informational message when the following line is found in a domain's POST logs:

proc_dump_delay is a .postrc command to be used only by authorized Sun personnel.

It specifies the minimum time in seconds which must elapse
(measured from the start of POST) before the first processor is
dumped when creating a system hardware dump file (dstop).

If this time interval has not expired by the time execution
reaches the processor dump point, then POST will sleep for an
appropriate amount of time to ensure compliance.

The intent of the dump delay is to allow sufficient time after a
domain stop occurs for the processors' internal timeouts to expire,
thus creating error state information which may be valuable in
post-mortem analysis.

The default value is 7.2 seconds (about 2³⁰ cycles)
which is appropriate for the normal 150 MHz system clock.
