Description
This article addresses what happens if a power grid fails on a Sun Fire[TM] 6800.

Steps to Follow
The Sun Fire 6800 has two power grids:

If power grid0 fails:

  • Domains A & B will have no power

  • SB0, SB2, SB4, IB6 & IB8 will have no power

  • RP0 and RP1 will have no power

  • PS0, PS1, & PS2 will have no power

If power grid1 fails:

  • Domains C & D will have no power

  • SB1, SB3, SB5, IB7 & IB9 will have no power

  • RP2 and RP3 will have no power

  • PS3, PS4, & PS5 will have no power

You can verify this by running a  SC> showboards -p power

SC> showboards -p power

Please Note: SB and IB boards can be assigned to any Domain in the platform. Thus you need to keep resources allocated to the same grid. This helps the Reliablity & Availability on a power grid failure.
