To get information on how to install and configure the optional SMDC, please refer to Sun Fire X2100 Server User Guide, Part No. 819-3721, Appendix C "Using the Optional Service Processor"

Available at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/oracle-x86-servers-190077.html

1. Verify system power status is ON via ipmitool.

      # ipmitool -I lanplus -U Admin -H <SMDC IP address> chassis status
System Power : on
Power Overload : false
Power Interlock : inactive
Main Power Fault : false
Power Control Fault : false
Power Restore Policy : always-off
Last Power Event :
Chassis Intrusion : inactive
Front-Panel Lockout : inactive
Drive Fault : false
Cooling/Fan Fault : false
  • If off and you expect it to be on, then refer to: <Document: 1011591.1> : How to check why the system is powered off, Sun Fire[TM] X2100 Servers..

2. Verifying system power if you are local to the server.

  • Verify that the Power LED from the front or rear is illuminated STEADY GREEN (ON) .
  • If not illuminated and you expect it to be ON, refer to: <Document: 1011591.1> : How to check why the system is powered off, Sun Fire[TM] X2100 Servers.

For further Information about LED states refer to Sun Fire X2100 Server Getting Started Guide, Part No. 819-3720, Chapter 1.6 "Powering On the Server"
