Goal

The intend of this document is to clarify the steps to replace a Power Cooling Unit (PCU) in a Sun StorEdge[TM] 6120 array.

A PCU is not delivered with the battery, this is why replacing the PCU requires an extra step described below. This extra step needs to be proceeded only if the battery is good and needs to be moved from the faulty PCU into the new PCU.
This document does not apply to situations where only the battery needs to be replaced because it is faulty.

Solution

  1. Follow the steps 1-5 on pages 103-104 in the Sun StorEdge 6020 and 6120 Arrays System Manual document.
  2. Transfer the battery from the faulty PCU into the replacement PCU.
  3. Follow the steps 6-13 on page 105 in the Sun StorEdge 6020 and 6120 Arrays System Manual document.
