Bug Id
<SUNBUG: 4892830>

Date of Resolved Release
21-AUG-2003

Impact

Sun StorEdge 3510 Fiber Channel (FC) array may lose connectivity from the host or a logical drive initialization may fail.

Contributing Factors

This issue can occur in the following releases:

SPARC Platform

  • Sun StorEdge 3510 FC array with firmware version 3.27N or earlier

This issue only occurs after an internal disk drive command transaction timeout (error code "62F") has been generated.

To verify the firmware version, use the "telnet" or serial interface to the Sun StorEdge 3510 and select "View System Information" from the main menu.

Symptoms

Should the described issue occur, messages similar to the following are logged in the "/var/adm/messages" file, or in the Sun StorEdge 3510 event log:

SCSI Drive ALERT: Unexpected Sense Received (62F)

Also, a logical drive initialization may fail with the same timeout error as shown above.

Workaround

There is no workaround. Please see the "Resolution" section below.

Resolution

This issue is addressed in the following release:

SPARC Platform

  • Sun StorEdge 3510 FC array with firmware version 3.27P (delivered with patch 113723-05) or later
