Impact

When a snapshot volume is deleted from the Data Services Platform (DSP-1000) component of the Sun StorEdge (SE) 6920 array, the primary volume may become inaccessible.

Contributing Factors

This issue can occur on the following platforms:

Sun StorEdge 6920 with Data Services Platform (DSP) 1000 firmware version 2.0.4 or 2.0.5

Symptoms

The primary volume will be unavailable to the host. This condition can be seen by running the format(1M) command, which will show the corresponding disk as inaccessible, as in the following example:

before deletion of the snapshot volume:

    # format

Workaround

Access to the volume can be restored by unmapping and remapping the DSP volume to the host, as in the following example:

    # ./sscs unmap -S testdomain -i s4u-280ra-HBA0 volume volsource
    # ./sscs map -P readwrite -i s4u-280ra-HBA0 -S testdomain volume volsource

(In the example above, the volume is "volsource," mapped to the host s4u-280ra-HBA0)

Resolution

This issue is resolved on the following platform:

Sun StorEdge 6920 with Data Services Platform (DSP) 1000 firmware version 2.0.6 or later
