Applies to:

Sun StorageTek SL3000 Modular Library System - Version: Not Applicable and later   [Release: N/A and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

CAP, status failed, Error needed hardware not available for audit 1,1,5,2,0 cap
SL3000 library, new install, error during Self Diagnostic Test

Failure message displayed on SL Console Gui:

"Cap Motion Test        Failed       ERROR: Needed hardware not available for audit 1,1,5,2,0 cap"

Able to unlock/lock and open the CAP from SL console without any problems.

Cause

Diagnostic self test bug.

Solution

The Self Test Cap Diagnostic error is a library microcode error resolved in the latest release at 3.0:

-Changes to cap avoidance logic caused a reservation race condition with self test's invocation of the audit command. Self test then would fail to reserve the necessary robot for auditing which is required as last step in 'closing' the cap door.

Recommendation to resolve the "needed hardware not available for audit" error message is to upgrade the SL3000 code to 3.0.
