Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After installing a system board autoconfig reports "WARNING: ring ID YXXXXXXX not found"

NOTE: YXXXXXXX is representative of a set of numbers that represent the revision and component ID; See example output below.

example:

% autoconfig sysboard14
WARNING: (sysboard14) ring cic0 ID 11910149 not found Using the properties of 01910149 instead.
WARNING: (sysboard14) ring cic0 ID 11910149 not found Using the properties of 01910149 instead.
WARNING: (sysboard14) ring cic0 ID 11910149 not found Using the properties of 01910149 instead.

Cause

The messages can be read as "I'm detecting part XXXXXXX, revision Y which I know nothing about. So, I'm assuming it's functionally like part XXXXXXX rev Z, which I do have in my database."

In the above example, revision 1 of 1910149 is unknown to autoconfig, but revision 0 is known, so revision 0 will be used.

Solution

The messages are warnings and not failures, so if the board passes hpost at level 16 or higher, bring the domain up and then sort out the warning message.

Items to check on are:
  • Autoconfig patch is installed
  • Scantool database patches are installed
  • Hardware specific patches (i.e. for new system board revs) are installed
New hardware is no longer being released for this platform hence this error should not be seen if running SSP 3.5.
