Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ILOM incorrectly identifies the slot that each Power Supply Unit (PSU) is installed in SPARC Enterprise T5120 and T5140. This will lead to identifying the wrong PSU in the event of a PSU failure.

Cause

OPS started using a new PDB (FRU P/N = 511-1604-01) in T5120 and T5140 and in the ILOM reporting, PSU0 and PSU1 are swapped. As a result, in the event of a power failure, the wrong PSU will be identified.

Solution

1. Check the part number with the ILOM show /SYS/PDB command in order to determine if you are hitting this issue, for example:

-> show /SYS/PDB

 /SYS/PDB
    Targets:

    Properties:
        type = Power Distribution Board
        ipmi_name = /PDB
        fru_name = PDB
        fru_description = ASY,PDB,HORIZONTAL,2U
        fru_manufacturer = Flextronics Semiconductor
        fru_version = 06_51
        fru_part_number = 5111604               <---- the PDB part number
        fault_state = OK
        clear_fault_action = (none)

2. If the system has PDB p/n 511-1604-xx and SysFW is less that 7.3.1, you have to identify which PSU is faulted by looking at the PSU LEDs, instead of relying on the ILOM system event log.

3. The fix for this bug (CR 7020694) will be integrated in System FW version 7.3.1.
