Created from <SR 3-2721102261>

Applies to:

Sun Storage 5320 NAS Appliance - Version: Not Applicable and later   [Release: N/A and later ]
Sun Storage CSM200 Array - Version: Not Applicable and later    [Release: N/A and later]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Some customers have attempted to add CSM200 trays which were previously in use in other RAID environments to a ST5320 in a direct attach environment.

This can lead to them being unable to create LUN's on the newly attached trays.

Cause

Only 5320EU's can be added to 5320's via direct attach, while the hardware may be the same as a CSM200 the ESM code is not and LSI/SUN support agreement does not allow this.

Adding CSM200 trays in a direct attach is an unsupported configuration.

Solution

The only supported config to re-use CSM200 trays would be to continue to use the original RAID controller ( with the CSM trays attached ) and purchase a gateway license for use with the ST5320 ( non-direct attach ).
