Spare disk should be marked as available after the data disk comes online.
However due to the below mentioned bug the spare disk continues to be part of the pool.

Cause

This issue is due to an appliance firmware bug

@ <SUNBUG: 6913532> Spare disk not freed up after the data disk is online.

Solution

A support call is required to fix this issue.

Internal:

Identify the spare disk which has to be relinquished and then use the zpool detach as below.
# zpool detach <pool-name> <spare-device>
