Symptoms
Temperature and airflow are critical elements in maintaining an array.
In addition to monitoring external environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, it is also important to remove anything that may restrict, inhibit or negatively influence air flow or temperature in/out of the array. Removing unused SFPs may help prevent some over-temp conditions.

Resolution
Sun StorEdge[TM] 3000 family products are NEBS Class 3-certified. When this equipment is installed and operated in a NEBS-III or other environment that potentially requires the equipment to be operated outside of the normal temperature range (this includes testing for such operation), the over-temperature controller shutdown trigger must be disabled.

Relief/Workaround

Additional Information
NOTE:
Operating this equipment outside of the normal temperature range can adversely affect the operational lifetime of the equipment. The severity of the effect depends on the severity of the overtemp condition and length of time it persists.

See the Sun StorEdgeâ„¢ 3000 Family RAID Firmware User's Guide for additional information.
