Symptoms

Following messages are seen on the SC, indicating a problem with the HPCI board.

>  A high voltage has been detected on -12VDC, located on HPCI at IO#. The voltage detected is -11.07v; should be -12.60v to -11.40v. HPCI at IO# is being deconfigured and powered off. Check all hardware for the cause.
>  Power off of HPCI at IO# is required because its status measurements have exceeded normal operational limits. A shutdown request has been made to the dependent domain(s).
>  Domain B environmental error notification received; environmental emergency handler initiated.

May 20 12:38:06 2008 sc0 esmd[19157]-B(): [1920 34768845761702477 ERR DetectorV.cc 622] A high voltage has been detected on -12VDC, located on HPCI at IO3. The voltage detected is -11.07v; should be -12.60v to -11.40v. HPCI at IO3 is being deconfigured and powered off. Check all hardware for the cause.

Cause

Due to a change in the environmental specification the acceptable range of voltages for the HPCI was adjusted.

Solution

Bug ID 6841225 is resolved with <Patch 122300-12>.  There is no need to replace the HPCI board if the indicated voltage falls within the new range of values.
