Solution

Resolution
Follow the procedure below to correct this condition and reload the correct SUN personality.

Replacing the SCB card again 'may' resolve the problem. You could get another card with the same issue. You will not know this until you plug the new card in.

There is reason to believe that there may be SCB cards in Field Spares that do not have Sun image loaded on them. There is a work around to burn the Sun image and personality into these cards in the field. What we have experienced to date is that Quantum T142 code is the image loaded. This code must first be upgraded to V1.0 and then to Vxx code.

The process described in this word document has been verified to accomplish this.

This process may be cumbersome at first but it does work.

To load the correct C4 SCB firmware

  1. Attach an Ethernet cross-over cable to Eth port0, left port on rear of unit.
  2. Attached the other end of the Ethernet cross-over cable to the Service Laptop.
  3. Set your laptop to static IP 192.168.20.100/ Subnet: 255.255.255.0/ .No need to set gateway. XP string is below.
    1. Control Panel/Network Connections/Local area connection/Properties/TCP-IP Protocol Properties/ static address.
  4. Open WEB browser and log in to the web page using default IP address (192.168.20.126). For a T-code the username/password on the Web GUI is test/test.
  5. Copy and paste the attached PX500_V1-0.img file to a directory on your laptop. In the remote management Utilities/Maintenance page on the Web GUI load the PX500_V1-0.img firmware.
  6. Reboot library, username/password is now admin/admin. The C4 might show error on the OCP or overtemp but ignore it.
  7. Load the latest C4 firmware, V14 or V26, and reboot the library. The Web GUI will show Quantum PX502.

To reset the Sun personality

  1. From the Web browser log in to the C4 service page, IP address/service.html, username/password, service/ATLfse.
  2. Enable telnet by clicking on enable tenet.
  3. Open a command prompt and telnet into the C4 using the IP address.
  4. The username/password is service/ATLfse.
  5. Type smgr pers 17 ( keys may echo)
  6. Reboot C4 and the Sun personality will be on the OCP and Web GuI.
  7. From the OPC panel set back customer network setting (IP/Subnet/gateway) under Setup/network/IP address,
  8. Connect back customer LAN to Eth0.

Additional Information
112 SCB cards were loaded with a test code and shipped to SUN-STK spares from OEM. The cards where loaded with a un-released test code, not the SUN C4 normal code.

Note that the user names and passwords are different in the T code.
