Symptoms
MVCs are incorrectly identified as expired

Resolution
Install the following microcode level for the appropriate device type:

9940A - 1.30.212 or higher
9840A - 1.30.112 or higher

Note: There is no problem applying the PTFs when running a microcode level released prior to the bad code. For example, the PTFs can be applied when using 9840A RTDs at level 1.28.

Additional Information
VTCS 4.0
VTCS 5.0
9840B devices are not affected.
PTF L1H10S3 (SWS4000)
PTF L1H10S2 (SWS4100)
PTF L1H10XO (SWS5000)
9940A Microcode 1.30.210
9940A Microcode 1.30.211
9840A Microcode 1.30.110
9840A Microcode 1.30.111

The PTFs listed (L1H10S3, L1H10S2, L1H10X0) introduced checking of the status of the physical tape when performing operations on the MVC as returned by the drive.

The drive microcode at the following levels is incorrectly reporting that the media is expired:

9940A - 1.30.210 or 1.30.211
9840A - 1.30.110 or 1.30.111
