Symptoms

Cannot add SAN client back after replacing client host HBA, receiving error "already added".

Changes

Replaced HBA on SAN client (Backup application server)

Cause

Previously configured SAN client still assigned to old HBA WWPN.

Solution

Do the following to get the SAN Client added back and assigned:
1. Remove (unassign) Virtual Library from SAN client in VTL Console GUI:
   Two methods:
   a) Right click on Virtual Library name under SAN client name, then click Unassign to unassign single library OR
   b) Right click on SAN Client name, then click Unassign to unassign ALL libraries or a single library.

2. Delete SAN client (Right click on SAN client name, then Delete)
3. Readd SAN client and assign Virtual Library with new WWPN

Refer to VTL User Guide for details on above procedures.
