Symptoms

In very rare instances it is possible that both System Service Processors (SSP) on the Sun Enterprise[TM] 10000 can report that they are spares. Usually this is reported after both hosts are rebooted simultaneously.

Resolution
  • Easiest fix is to just reboot one SSP.
  • To avoid this possible situation in the future, change one of the SSP's OBP values of diag-level to max and the other SSP's diag-level to min.
      SSP0:
diag-level=min
      SSP1:
diag-level=max

This will avoid any possible issues of both SSP's attempting to become the main at the same time.
