Symptoms
The two onboard interfaces in the Sun Fire[TM] T2000 Server (ipge0 and ipge1) work fine when used standalone.

However, is it possible to trunk them together, using Sun Trunking[TM] Software or native Link Aggregation?

Resolution
Sun Fire T2000 with onboard ipge interfaces running Solaris[TM] 10 Operating System Update 1 and Update 2 does not support Sun Trunking (1.3) or native Link Aggregation (dladm).
With dladm, the ipge interfaces are recognized as legacy devices which are not supported by link aggregation:
# dladm show-link
ipge0 type: legacy mtu: 1500 device: ipge0
ipge1 type: legacy mtu: 1500 device: ipge1
#
# dladm create-aggr -d ipge0 -d ipge1 1
dladm: create operation failed: No such file or directory (invalid interface name)

This capability is available with Solaris Operating System Build s10u3 and later releases. These releases include Native Link Aggregation (a replacement for Sun Trunking) and a new GLDv3 e1000g driver replacing the ipge driver.

CR 6369612 panic during LACP misconfig check

(affects Native Link Aggregation, fix in progress, no t-patch yet available)

Workaround: Disable LACP and use link aggregation with manual config

(use dladm with the "-l off" option and ensure that switch is also

correctly configured to bundle the used ports manually).
