When the Flash PROM Update utility is run, it is reported that the machine is already at the latest version of POST : Firmware Release(s) Firmware Release(s) Currently Existing in the System Available for Installation / Install ---------------------------------- ------------------------------------------- OBP 4.6.4 2002/05/31 05:00 OBP 4.6.8 2002/09/04 13:45 YES POST 4.6.2 2002/05/21 10:27 POST 4.6.2 2002/05/21 10:27 NO <<<<<<<<<<<<< (user enters "NO") If only the OBP firmware (and not the POST) is selected for update, the following will be returned: Programming was successful. Resetting ... RAM-Copy CRC failure! Sun Fire 480R, No Keyboard Copyright 1998-2002 Sun Microsystems, Inc. All rights reserved. OpenBoot 4.6, 4096 MB memory installed, Serial #52264953. Ethernet address 0:3:ba:1d:7f:f9, Host ID: 831d7ff9. Resolution Saying "YES" to update the POST as well as OBP fixes the problem of RAM-Copy CRC failure. (Even if the latest POST is already installed) Both packages MUST be installed together.
