Resolution

Problem Example:

  # telnet
Connected to
Escape character is '^]'.
  *** PX500 Debug Terminal 45198
*** Connection ID 0
  login: sseerrvviicece
password:xxxxx
  PX500> llooggoouutt

The solution is to enable LINEMODE after opening the telnet session to the StorageTek C4 Tape Library. The procedure is as below:

  # telnet
Connected to
Escape character is '^]'.
  *** PX500 Debug Terminal 45198
*** Connection ID 0

(Use escape character '^]' to enter telnet command mode)

  login: ^]
telnet> mode line
  login: service
service
password: xxxxx

Note:
* The setting is changed in telnet client and not in StorageTek C4 Tape Library.
* Workaround needs to be repeated for every telnet session.
* This problem does not affect the functioning of StorageTek C4 Tape Library.
