Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1011353.1 : Sun Fire[TM] V445 SC Alert: Host system has shut down.
PreviouslyPublishedAs 215576 Symptoms Sun Fire[TM] V445 Server; The following message is displayed "SC Alert: Host system has shut down" Resolution If the system suddenly powers OFF or you can no power up the system. There are three primary failure modes. Failure Mode 1: ACTIONS: 1a. Check to see if intrusion switch opening is root cause. Prior to issuing a sc>poweron command, at AlOM prompt type the following sc>fpga read 0xc10000 This will printout a message: Example: sc> fpga read 0xc10000 Reading 0x03c10000 0x0 1.a.1) If it is Reading 0x03c10000 = 0x0 or 0x4: Then the intrusion switch is NOT the root cause.Continue on troubleshooting (got to 1b & 1c). 1.a.2) If it is Reading 0x03c10000 = 0x8 or 0xC: Then double check top cover is properly installed. If cover is Ok then replace the intrusion switch and open a task with sys-tsc-vsp and assign to Karen Vergakes DO NOT SEND BACK the intrusion switch, wait for further instructions. 1b. Check all cabling between the PDB and MB. Check that all four busbar screws are properly tighten down(819-3742-11; Sun Fire V445 Server Service Manual; chapter 4; page 111). Also, check the small ribbon cable from the front I/O module to MB is properly installed (you need to pull the fan tray to check both sides of the cable) 1c. Check for any lose debris on the MB that could cause a shorting problem (like lose screw). 1d. If your ALOM code is 1.6.0 upgrade to latest ALOM version. Reset ALOM and see if system will powerup OK. 1e. If all this fails, escalate to sys-tsc-vsp. Failure Mode 2: ACTIONS 2a. Go to ALOM and do the following command: sc>showlog Look for these errors in the log. SC Alert: FAULT_SENSOR @ C1.P0.FF_POK has FAILED. SC Alert: Access to TEMP_SENSOR @ C1.P0.T_CORE has failed. SC Alert: Access to TEMP_SENSOR @ C1.T_AMB has failed. Note:note yellow service LED will be ON If any of the following errors appear in ALOM messages, trying re-seating all four cpus Note: If after re-seating the cpu modules these message(s) still persist, then replace the indicated FRU. 2c. If all this fails, escalate to sys-tsc-vsp. Failure Mode 3: ACTIONS 3.a.1) In these cases you need to consider AC power source problems or bad PSUs. 3.a.2) Check to see if any LEDs will turn ON. If none of the LED are ON, and AC power & PSU's are OK: 3.a.2.1) Check cabling between PDB and MB. 3.a.2.1) Swap out the PDB. (double check leds at first ac power on) 3b. Green LED in front panel is ON but no ALOM response. Check connections to ALOM (either serial or network). If connections are OK, then remove AC power and see if ALOM will respond. 3c. If all this fails, escalate to sys-tsc-vsp.
