Symptoms
POST may fail an IO board during FEPS "DVMA DATA byte compare error" testing.
The FEPS Chip is located on the IO board itself and the FEPS will be marked as "Failed" after POST completes. It usually shows up in POST as "DVMA DATA byte compare error" and may lead us to think that there is something wrong with the IO Board.

Replacement of the IO board or the Centerplane may NOT resolve the issue. This failure usually shows up on IO Board-1, as it's a "Termination Board" for Internal Storage and Peripheral Devices.

Resolution
To resolve this issue, see the following:
The issues surrounding such errors originate from a bad or insufficient termination of the SCSI Bus.  When such errors are encountered, start to troubleshoot termination from the IO board and all the way up to SCSI Tray Assembly.

Look out for FRUs named "SCSI Tray Assembly" for Sun Enterprise 4x00, 5x00 and 6x00 and "Internal Peripheral Tray SCSI Cable" part no. 530-2381 for a Sun Enterprise 3x00.

The on-board SCSI adaptor on the IO board-1 itself needs to be actively terminated.

Additionally, if you are still experiencing the error even after verifying the termination of the SCSI bus, the cause could be one of the internal SCSI disks on the E3000, remove them all, and insert them one at a time and run POST after each insertion. Once POST fails with the FEPS error you've found the bad disk.
