Symptoms
When syncing file systems on a machine with a UFS swapfile, one may see the following error message:
"WARNING: tmp_putapage: err 5":
# swap -l
swapfile dev swaplo blocks free
/var/tmp/swapfile - 8 62488 62488
# mkfile 25000000 /tmp/foo
# cp /tmp/foo /tmp/bar &

# reboot -d

Resolution
You may see repeated "tmp_putapage: err 5" messages on console during a
system panic if you have a UFS file added as a swap file. These messages
are harmless noise and unrelated to the system panic, and can be safely
ignored. The BugID for this unnecessary noise was 4293173, and it was fixed
for Solaris[TM] 8, but is not currently available as a patch for earlier
releases.
