Symptoms
During StorADE discovery of Sun StorEdge[TM] T3+ in Sun StorEdge[SM] 3900,
/opt/SUNWstade/bin/config_solution was recommended to be executed.
Upon execution of config_solution, the following errors were noticed:
root# /opt/SUNWstade/bin/config_solution
Enter Model (q=quit): 3960
localhost:
-> Error: cannot find the serial# of this T3
-> Error: cannot find the wwn of the first port of this T3
-> Error: cannot find the wwn of the second port of this T3
msp0.localdomain:
ERRORS FOUND: Snapshot cannot be saved!
Unable to complete discovery of T3+ in StorAde as Snapshot file
(/var/opt/SUNWstade/DATA/Solution.golden) was not generated.
The following trouble shooting techniques were applied to determine
the T3+ and the Service Processor were not the cause of the unsuccessful
completion of the config_solution script:
- Can successfully ping T3+ arrays from Service Processor.
- Can successfully telnet into T3+ arrays from Service Processor.
- All .htm files are present in the T3+ /web directory.
elemprop.htm enclmap.htm logprop.htm loopinf.htm ofdgoper.htm
sysprop.htm voloper.htm frudata.htm fruprop.htm log.htm lun.htm
monitor.htm ntp.htm portperf.htm portprop.htm schedule.htm
slice.htm sysdata.htm sysdate.htm sysoper.htm sysperf.htm
system.htm timeprop.htm vol.htm volperf.htm volprop.htm
- The t300.mib file is present in the T3+ /web/snmp directory.
- "id read u1" executed on T3+ arrays returned proper serial numbers.
- "port list" executed on T3+ arrays returned proper World Wide Numbers.
- "reset -y" executed on T3+ and config_solution still reported same
errors.
- Reboot of Service Processor and config_solution still reported same
errors.

Resolution
The config_solution script utilizes http requests to the T3+ arrays to
obtain serial number and WWNs information by browsing the T3+
/web/elemprop.htm file. The elemprop.htm passes http tokens containing
T3+ serial numbers and WWNs to config_solution script to generate the
snapshot file.
Apparently there were problems with the ethernet hub in the 3900 that
connects the private network between the Service Processor and T3+ arrays.
The private network wasn't allowing any files over 1kB to be transferred.
Failure of ftp`ing files over 1kB from the T3+ to service processor
confirmed the networking problem.
Since elemprop.htm is over 6kB, config_solution was not able to obtain any
http tokens as it was unable to access elemprop.htm.
Power cycling the ethernet hub resolved the networking problem and allowed
files over 1kB to be transferred. The config_solution script now executes
with no problems and was able to generate the snapshot file to complete the
StorADE T3+ discovery process.

Comment: No bug reports could be found on this issue, I even emailed the creator of this SRDB, but did not get a response. I identified the diagnostic steps taken that led to the resolution and changed the wording slightly on the diagnostic steps. Unused headings at the end of the doc can not be removed (click edit button in Voyager to see).
