PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:

Ultra2 systems having 200MHz UltraSPARC CPU Modules may fail with;

panic[cpu0]/thread=0x507a3da0: CPU0 Ecache SRAM Data Parity Error:
AFSR 0x00000000 00408000 AFAR 0x000001ff 30000000

- or -

panic[cpu0]/thread=0x507a3da0: CPU0 Ecache SRAM Data Parity Error:
AFSR 0x00000000 0040C000 AFAR 0x000001ff 30000000

- or -

panic[cpu0]/thread=0x50965260: CPU0 Writeback Data Parity Error:
AFSR 0x00000000 00804000 AFAR 0x000001ff 30000000

Root Cause has been attributed to CPU and SRAM components on the 200MHz Module.

The most recent fix was implemented within manufacturing via ECO# WO_12745
which was approved on March 23, 1998.

IMPLEMENTATION:

---
| | MANDATORY (Fully Pro-Active)
---

---
| | CONTROLLED PRO-ACTIVE (per Sun Geo Plan)
---

---
| X | UPON FAILURE or UPON CUSTOMER REQUEST
---

REPLACEMENT TIME ESTIMATE: 30 minutes

SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

Upon failure or upon customer request replace 501-3041-05 (and below) or
501-4791-02 (and below) with 501-4791-03.

COMMENTS:

Compatibility testing has been performed in Ultra 2 systems with mixed
modules (501-3041-0X cpu0 and 501-4791-03 cpu1 and 501-4791-03 cpu0 and
501-3041-0X cpu1) with no problems or errors encountered.

BILLING TYPE:

Warranty: Sun will provide parts at no charge under Warranty
Service. On-Site Labor Rates are based on how the
system was initially installed.

Contract: Sun will provide parts at no charge. On-Site Labor Rates
are based on the type of service contract.

Non Contract: Sun will provide parts at no charge. Installation by
Sun is available based on the On-Site Labor Rates
defined in the Price List.

Implementation Footnote:
________________________

i) In case of Mandatory FCOs, SunService will attempt to contact all known
customers to recommend the part upgrade.

ii) For controlled proactive swap FCOs, SunService mission critical support
teams will initiate proactive swap efforts for their respective accounts,
as required.

iii) For Replace upon Failure FCOs, SunService partners will implement the
necessary corrective actions as and when they are required.
