Symptoms

Error messages from VTS 2.1.1 when trying to run on multiple A5000's.

 SUNWvts.vmem.4002 02/12/98 13:57:19 vmem kmem
WARNING: "Amount of heap allocated is limited to maximum allowed size(0x7fffffff).
Probable_Cause(s): the maximum memory valloc() can alocate is 2GB.
Recommended_Actions: Increase the number of instances to total_memory_size/2GB and try again."
 SUNWvts.libtest.8020 FATAL: Cannot open /tmp/vts.pid; vtsk may not be running (Too many open files).

Resolution

Default file descriptor limit was too low for the test configuration.

(1) Set shell limits with "ulimit -n 1024"

(2) Can also set file descriptor limit in /etc/system:

set rlim_fd_cur = 1024
