Symptoms

The Sun StorEdge[TM] C4 Tape Library management interface accepts strings of more than 7 characters when setting the password but fails to authenticate when the same password is used when logging in.

Resolution
Use only the first 7 characters of the password string.
For example:

When the user "admin" set the password to "cocacola" (8 characters)

He will need to login with the following password: "cocacol" (7 characters)

If he enters "cocacola" as a password, access is denied.
