Symptoms

May 19 17:19:42 v4u-v1280d picld[56]: disk_leds_thread exiting; cannot find disk

Changes

Upgrading PCI IB_SCC IO Assembly to PCI+ IO Assembly
Solaris[TM] 9 Update 8 / Solaris[TM} 9 9/05

Cause

The above error is attributed to a bug in the "picld".

Solution

Additional Information

The above error is seen only in Solaris[TM] 9 Update 8 / Solaris[TM} 9 9/05.
This error DOES NOT effect the availability of the system and the system functions as normal. However, only the control of LEDs of the internal disks is affected.

This issue is not seen in Solaris[TM] 8 or Solaris[TM] 10 releases required to support the PCI+ IB_SSC assembly

The error message is seen in S9 with KJP Patch ID 118558-14 and above, but the underlying bug exists even prior to the Patch ID 118558-14, except that the warning message did not get printed on console.

Resolution

This issue is fixed in S9 KJP 118558-29 or higher.
