Symptoms

On the HiCommand Tuning Manager (HTnM) GUI Solaris[TM] Unix agent is showing good status but "Error:both" on configuration status.
On HTnM GUI select Administration - Agents - Available agents

Available Agents

       Name Service ID Type Status Configuration Status
netrat4-a  UA1netrat4-a, EA1netrat4-a      Unix    up      Error: both

Resolution

This behaviour has been seen after a successful installation of the first 3 CDs of HTnM installation CDs.
The HTnM agents Error:both indicates that HTnM Agent is now up and running but both Unix Agent store and collector are not configured correctly as yet.

Two known causes:

1. HTnMAgents is installed but setup has not been completed as can be seen from undefined services and port numbers

'/opt/jp1pc/tools/jpcnsconfig port list all'

Component ServiceID Services Port Host Name
---------------- ------------------ --------------- -------- ------------------
Name Server PN1001 jp1pcnsvr 22285 netrat4-a
Master Manager PM1001 jp1pcmm 20271 netrat4-a

<snip>

Agent Collector EA1netrat4-a <undef> <undef> netrat4-a
Agent Collector UA1netrat4-a <undef> <undef> netrat4-a
KAVE05916-I The service configuration information listing ended normally.

What is required is to stop all agent services and configure services with default port numbers

'/opt/jp1pc/tools/jpcstop all' followed by
'/opt/jp1pc/tools/jpcnsconfig port define all'

Component[Name Server]
ServiceID[PN1001]
Port[22285] :

<snip>

Component[Agent Store]
ServiceID[US1netrat4-a]
Port[20277] :
Component[Agent Collector]
ServiceID[UA1netrat4-a]
Port[20278] :
KAVE05917-I The service configuration information definition ended normally.

2. Unable to resolve IP address from which the Tuning Manager and HTM Agents are installed or when there are multiple ip address configured.
The solution is the insert the host name `uname -n` and IP address into /opt/jp1pc/jpchosts file, HTnM reads this file before using Solaris naming service.
