Symptoms
After giving the following command, the console is rendered useless when logged in with ssh to the servers ILOM:
-> start /SP/console
Are you sure you want to start /SP/console (y/n)  y
To stop, hit ESC (

It hangs at that point.  You can type what you want, but nothing is visual.

Also, trying to stop, start or reset the SP does not help.



Resolution
Check the input/output device setting via eeprom.out. If it is set to screen/keyboard, change both of these to ttya.

If you are using Solaris 10 01/06 or later do not use input-device and output-device,

use the eeprom variable console=ttya.  

Reboot, and the console will work.
