Symptoms
Read and Write Operations to a Sun StorEdge[TM] 6130 Error with ASC/ASCQ 0x8b/0x2, similar to the following on Solaris[TM]:
date time host scsi: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING:/pci@9,600000/SUNW,qlc@1/fp@0,0/ssd@w200700a0b819e184,0 (ssd7):

date time host scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Requested Block: 0 Error Block: 0
date time host scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Vendor: SUN Serial Number: = C D
date time host scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Sense Key: Unit Attention
date time host scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] ASC: 0x8b (), ASCQ: 0x2, FRU: 0x0

Resolution
The ASC/ASCQ code pair 0x8b/0x2 is a vendor unique code defined as:

UNIT ATTENTION, QUIESCE IN PROGRESS (0x06/0x8b/0x02) ILLEGAL REQUEST, LUN NOT OWNED

This error is thrown if a read or write command to a 6130 Volume is issued
to a controller that does not own it at the time of the command execution,
or if the 6130 Volume is in the middle of a transition between controllers.

While the error itself is harmless, it may indicate:

A) There is a problem with the physical link(Host Bus Adapter, Fibre Channel Cables and Emitters, or 6130 RAID Controller). This is typically associated with messages related to Host Bus Adapter software reacting to an adverse condition such as this. If the only messages seen are the above ASC/ASCQ code pair, then the situation could be:

B) The host software and 6130 array may not be configured correctly for the user's solution. A review of the host's multipathing software configuration, along with the 6130 Host Type settings for the Initiators defined for this host should be conducted to identify a possible flaw.

C) MPXIO may not be properly enabled. If /kernel/drv/scsi_vhci.conf (or
/kernel/drv/fp.conf for Solaris[TM] 10) has mpxio enabled and the device names
in the output of format command show the short format, then mpxio is not
properly enabled and a reboot of the system is required.

While the sample messages are from Solaris, the ASC/ASCQ code given, is not specific to Solaris, and can be seen from any Operating System which has access to the 6130 array.
