Symptoms

Throughout using Hitachi RAID Manager Shadow Copy Provider for Microsoft? Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) you require to run following command: raidvchkset -g {group} -vg idb within Hitachi RAID Manager (CCI)on Microsoft? Windows 2003.

Once you have done this for a ldev you might be unable to de-install this ldev and the related parity group.
If you try to release the invisible flag from the ldev through the raidvchkset command you will get reply as below:
"# raidvchkset -g snap -vg
raidvchkset: [EX_ENPERM] Permission denied with the LDEV"

This applies for SE9970 and SE9980 with with microcode above 21-08-XX where Open LDEV Guard does not need to be licenced.

Resolution

You will need to install an emergency license key for Open LDEV Guard on the storage subsystem.
This will enable the raidvchkset -g {group} -vg command to release all guarding flags therefore enable inquiry, read capacity, read, write and set retenention time = 0.

Once you have released above flags you will be able to de-install the ldev and the related parity group.

In order to obtain an emergency license key for Open LDEV Guard log a service request at Sun Support Service including model and serial number of the SE9900 series.

Additional Information

Please refer to Hitachi RAID Manager Shadow Copy Provider for Microsoft? Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS)Installation Guide, and Hitachi Command Control Interface (CCI)User and Reference Guide, and Open LDEV Guard User?s Guide
