Symptoms

Description

On Ultra 80 system, during a power up sequence, OBP can not detect a function and properly installed keyboard.

Thus all console messages are inadvertently redirected to serial port ttya.

Invalid OBP message during boot up sequence.

Can't open input device.
Keyboard not present.   Using ttya for input and output.
Also, banner message will indicate that no keyboard is installed

Sun Ultra 80 UPA/PCI (4 X UltraSPARC-II 450MHz), No Keyboard <-- should say " Keyboard Present "

OpenBoot 3.23, 1024 MB memory installed, Serial #11277778.

Ethernet address 8:0:20:ac:15:ee, Host ID: 80ac15ee.



Resolution

Replaced defective [FRU] 501-4155 Audio Module
