Symptoms
How do I get the part number and serial number of a Sun[TM] Fire system board.

Resolution
Currently (as of fw level 5.11.4), the only way to get the serial number of a system board is by using the inventory command in expert mode, and expert mode can only be entered by getting Corporate Technical Escalation (CTE) engaged.

However, the inventory command will be moved out of expert mode in a future firmware release.

You can, however, still retrieve the serial numbers of the cpu, memory and proms with the following command:

showboards -p <component>
