Symptoms
While existing Sun Ray[TM] appliances continue to work, new appliances cannot be added. They remain stuck either in hour glass with two bars (1.X firmware) or in the icon 21 (2.X/3.X firmware)

Resolution
There are two possibilities here:
1.  The IP adress of the Sun Ray Server was changed AFTER DHCP was
configured on this Sun Ray server. Check e.g. with pntadm -P:

# /usr/sbin/pntadm -P 192.168.128.0
Client ID                Flags Client IP              Server IP    Lease Expiration    Macro

01080020E7A87E   00    192.168.128.16  10.16.50.168    10/21/2005        SunRay-qfe0
01080020F08C33    00    192.168.128.17  10.16.50.168    10/21/2005        SunRay-qfe0
....
....

The Server IP adress in the above output (10.16.50.168) must be identical
to the IP adress you see in ifconfig -a. If this is not the case, Sun Ray interfaces must be reconfigured using utadm.

2.   No more DHCP adresses available. Check your DHCP server whether it
is still able to supply IP adresses. Check e.g. for error messages in
/var/adm/messages such as:
.... No more IP addresses on <subnetwork> .......
If your Sun Ray server is configured to supply IP adresses on a private
interconnect run utadm -p:

 # /opt/SUNWut/sbin/utadm -p
Interface       Host            Network         Netmask         Assigned IPs
 qfe0            server1-qfe0    192.168.128.0   255.255.255.0      225/225

In the above case all 225 IP adresses are in use. Hence no more new
units can be added. The solution is to configure more IP adresses.

In case the Sun Ray server supplies IP adresses, please use utadm.
If your DHCP server is hosted on a non-Solaris server please consult the
appropriate vendor information.

In addition, IP adresses could be marked as unusable. In the second column of
pntadm output there would be 04 rather than 00:

01080020F0930D  04      192.168.105.83  192.168.100.17  10/24/2005  SunRay-qfe1
                                   ^^

See the following document for more information, and how to repair:

Technical Instruction <Document: 1012095.1> DHCP: What conditions cause the Solaris[TM] DHCP server to mark a address as unusable?
