Symptoms
This issue is related to FCO A0228-1. Sun Fire [TM] V100/Sun Blade[TM] 150 platforms may experience system timeout error
with Western Digital Drive XL40S/WD400BB (Sun P/N 370-4440-01) when running both internal disks in a mirrored
and non-mirrored configurations under loaded condition. - Error Messages - Feb 3 08:53:09 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 464412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 08:53:09 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 606412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset bus chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 08:53:09 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 772242 kern.warning] WARNING: Changing the mode of targ:0 to Ultra DMA mode:2 Feb 3 09:15:19 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 464412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 09:15:19 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 606412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset bus chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 09:15:19 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 772242 kern.warning] WARNING: Changing the mode of targ:0 to Multiword DMA mode:2 Feb 3 09:45:40 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 464412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 09:45:40 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 606412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset bus chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 09:46:13 saiwaiw01 dada: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1f,0/ide@d/dad@0,0 (dad0): Feb 3 09:46:13 saiwaiw01 ATA transport failed: reason 'timeout': retrying command Feb 3 09:51:45 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 464412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset target chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 09:51:45 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 606412 kern.warning] WARNING: timeout: reset bus chno = 0 targ = 0 Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 uata: [ID 568058 kern.warning] WARNING: Drive not ready before set_features Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 dada: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1f,0/ide@d/dad@0,0 (dad0): Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 transport rejected (-2) Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 dada: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1f,0/ide@d/dad@0,0 (dad0): Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 transport rejected (-2) Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 dada: [ID 107833 kern.warning] WARNING: /pci@1f,0/ide@d/dad@0,0 (dad0): Feb 3 09:52:19 saiwaiw01 transport rejected (-2)

Resolution
If the 2 disks configuration involves Western Digital 40GB drives and
SDS mirroring, apply FCO A0228-1.
However, if it is a non mirrored configuration, and have verified that patch
108974-33 (or later) has been installed in the system, and if and only if the
same timeout errors still appear, then use discretion to whether to replace
the Western Digital 40GB drives with non Western Digital 40GB drives. If
there is a replacement, it should be treated as a one off replacement, case
by case basis, no mass swap.
Replace 370-4419-xx or 370-4440-xx with 370-6626-01 (or above).
*** IMPORTANT ***
DO NOT replace these Western Digital 40GB drives in non-mirrored
configuration when the timeout errors are NOT present.
