Solution Type Problem Resolution Sure Solution 1002099.1 : Sun Fire[TM] V440: Unable to create a 2nd RAID1 volume
PreviouslyPublishedAs 202948 Symptoms When trying to create a 2nd RAID1 volume using the internal RAID controller, the raidctl command fails with the following error message; % raidctl -c c1t2d0 c1t3d0 RAID Volume already exists on this controller 'c1t0d0' Resolution The Product documentation states that you can create a RAID1 volume with any 2 internal disks. The system can hold a maximum of 4 internal disks however, this doesn't mean you can create 2 RAID1 volumes. The Internal RAID controller supports ONLY A SINGLE RAID1 volume. So it is not possible to create a second raid 1 with the same controller using raidctl utility. Additional Information You can mirror additional disks using Solaris[TM] Volume Manager software included in Solaris[TM] 9.
