Symptoms
My USB 2.0 device which is attached to a builtin USB port on a SUN[TM] machine
has a performance problem but performance is fine when attached to a PC.

Resolution
Currently, SUN machines equipped with builtin USB root hubs only support
USB 1.x Low Speed (LS) 1.5Mb/s and Full Speed (FS) 12Mb/s not USB 2.0 High
Speed(HS) 480Mb/s. When a USB 2.0 device is attached the maximum throughput
speed the device will achieve is 12Mb/s (FS).

Though, the internal USB ports don't support USB 2.0 it is possible to
attach a 2.0 device and achieve High Speed (480Mb/s) throughput using a USB
2.0 pci addon card available through SUN.
SUN Hardware Requirements
--------------------
1.) IEEE 1394/USB Combo Card. (Note 1.) (Note. 2)
2.) PCI based sun4u architecture system with available 3.3/5V 32Bit 33MHz
slot.
Notes.
1. The IEEE1394/USB Combo board is factory installed in Sun Blade 1500 and
2500 slot PCI 0. SUN part number 375-3140 with option 5414. Comes with
3-1394 Firewire ports and  5-USB 2.0 ports.
2. Some third party USB 2.0 addon cards may work inplace of Sun's Combo
card. Check www.sun.com/io for a list of Solaris supported PCI USB 2.0
cards.
SUN Software Requirements
-------------------
Solaris 8 HW 5/03 PSR2 or Solaris 8 with patch 109896-13 or later.

Additional Information
To identify if current SUN[TM] machine has a USB 2.0 addon card and SUN's 2.0
USB drivers loaded run 'prtconf -D'. Look for usba10_ohci and usba10_ehci
in the output.
